Epiphone Casino 1966 Original Vintage Guitar With Hard Case. Dispatched with Other 48h Courier.
Here's my'66 Casino and isn't it gorgeous! Original nitro cellulose finish, I believe it was called Royal Tan in the catalogue. Featherlight and a joy to play, resonant and rich sounding with great sustain and feel.First off it has been fitted with a Bigsby B7 which may or may not be factory original but it's certainly a period-correct part and improves the tone by adding sustain, plus it makes it look more like Paul McCartneys one! Original ABR-1 steely bridge with nylon saddles. Looks like the bridge and posts have been replaced but I'm not sure about that. Machine heads are vintage correct reissue Kluson Deluxe aged nickel set with metal buttons.
They have what looks like the original pressed style'push in' bushings rather than the modern ones which are much thicker and a different shape. Original gold reflector control knobs. Schaller strap buttons fitted but I have a set of vintage correct buttons I can swap over to if you want them. Refretted somewhere down the line, it's a good job and there's loads of life left in them. When I got the guitar it had modern Epiphone Chinese!! These have with aged nickel covers along with decent USA made pots, whirlwind jack socket and Switchcraft toggle switch so now it looks and sounds a lot more like the real deal than before. Looks like some extra controls were fitted on the front at some point but the holes have been professionally filled and the finish has been touched up around them. Plugged in the tone really is excellent - warm and balanced and capable of a great mid period Beatles style tone but dial up the gain and it really soars, loads of harmonics and clarity from single notes or chords. It's completely hollow so it'll feed back at high volume but I've gigged it a few times and it was always manageable.
Comes with excellent quality Ibanez hard case, it's a good fit too. I'm actually left handed so I've been playing this one upside down (didn't need to alter the nut and I've re-set the guitar for right hand playing so it's ready for its next owner) and although I love it dearly I have factory left handed guitars that are easier for me to play with the controls and Bigsby the'right' way round for me. This is a bit of a'bucket list' guitar for me and it's a tough decision but cashflow is a bit tight at the moment so I have to part with one or two of the herd. Please ask if you have any more questions.
